In 1985, Ray Melissa founded Melissa Data with a mission in
mind – to help mailers save money on postage. Since then,
the data quality-focused firm has evolved to provide
powerful, yet affordable, data quality and address
management solutions to customers in a wide range of
industries. The company offers software, developer APIs,
enterprise platforms, and Web Services so that customers can
find the best fit for the data cleansing, standardization
and enrichment needs. Melissa Data’s flagship product
MAILERS+4, is a leading CASS and PAVE certified postal
automation software that helps customers easily maintain
high quality address data to achieve the best postage rates
while reducing undeliverable-as-addressed (UAA) mail.
Melissa Data provides complete mailing support, including a
full line of accurate mailing lists and many list cleaning
services including, CASS processing, NCOALink
change-of-address processing, Do-Not-Mail scrubbing, and
duplicate elimination among others.
In 2009 Melissa Data acquired M1 Data and Analytics. The
products and services of M1, now referred to as our 411 and
SmartSearch solutions, enable Melissa Data to provide the
most accurate, “to the day” 411 telco data, enhancing it’s
Web services, append and verification services, and mailing
lists.
Involvement
Melissa Data is a nonexclusive Interface Distributor and
Full Service Provider licensee for NCOALink, as well as a
nonexclusive DPV licensee of the United States Postal
Service.
Melissa Data is proud to be a supporting member of the
Direct Marketing Association (DMA), The DMA List & Database
Council, MFSA, NACUMS, and the Santa Ana PCC.
Achievements
In 2003, Information Management Magazine named Melissa Data
a Top 100 Company.
Recently, Melissa Data was ranked highest in customer
satisfaction in the 2009 Data Quality Landscape report by
the Information Difference.

Raymond F. Melissa
Raymond Melissa, a computer industry veteran with over 30 years
experience, is founder and president of Melissa DATA. Ray enjoys no
greater challenge than exploring ideas for innovative products that
will help organizations save money, increase profits, and be
successful.

1968: BS in Electrical Engineering from Long Beach State University.
1970: Co-founder of Eikon Inc., a line printer company.
1974: Co-founder of Printronix Inc. of Irvine. a computer printer
manufacturer listed on the NASDAQ.
1978: Co-founder of Trilog Inc., one of the first companies to
develop a color printer
