DoubleTake
2 Identifies Duplicates
Sick of having duplicate records taint your
database? You might want to take a look at
DoubleTake 2 API that eliminates duplicate records
by letting you process files in different formats
such as Xbase, ASCII and Paradox, and in different
field structures.
DoubleTake 2 API from Melissa Data allows for the
use of up to eight “matchcodes” that identify
duplicate entries. You can customize DoubleTake and
create an application to suit your needs. For
instance, you can set one code search on addresses
or a second search on phone numbers. If any
matchcode hits, duplicates are flagged and
identified, so that they can be erased.
Ken Brashears, a software product manager at Melissa
Data, says the program does a great job of cutting
down on duplicate addresses in databases. The
result? Increased response rates and reduce costs
associated with duplicate records.
The program also provides processing for a custom
written application seamlessly, without “shelling”
to another application.
The application recognizes same-sounding words such
as “ph” and “sh.” DoubleTake also recognizes
nicknames such as Liz, Beth, Betty, Betsy and
Elizabeth and alternate spellings of names like
Gene, Jean and Jeanne – which helps reduce the
number of duplicates in your database.
“You can install DoubleTake API on a server, so that
a network of people can access the program – it’s
not just a stand-alone program,” Brashears says.
“It’s very easy to use.”
DoubleTake 2 also is available as an installable
software program for Windows. The program can
process street address components such as the
address, city and ZIP Code™, in separate fields.
DoubleTake is super fast – processing about 500,000
records per hour. The program also can process up to
512 files in one run.
