Times Brews Up Ways to Update Database
Large-scale publishing firms are finding ways to
process and update their databases. Take for
instance, the Seattle Times. The newspaper uses
Melissa Data’s NCOALinkTM
service to identify the movers on their direct
mailing lists.
NCOALinkTM processing searches your database for
individuals, families and businesses that have moved
and filed a change of address with the U.S. Postal
Service in the last 48 months. The Seattle Times
uses the service to process their lists at a faster
pace. The publication has an in-house direct mail
department that offers direct mail services to local
advertisers and businesses.
The company mails pieces like postcards, magazines
and self-mailers to potential and current readers.
Robert Schultheis, a database marketing specialist
with the Seattle Times, estimates it mails as low as
10,000 to as high as 100,000 pieces a month.
“We are very happy with the service,” Schultheis
says. “The people at Melissa Data give us peace of
mind. They are responsive, accurate and very timely
when handling our jobs. We couldn’t ask for anything
more.”
