Center Gets Its Mailing Lists Clean
Teen Challenge International of Mid-America is a
Christian-based program that ministers to men with
drug, alcohol and other addictions. The organization
bolsters its visibility and stimulates their
business through its direct mail campaigns. Here’s
how they do it.
The center’s Cape Giraudeau, Mo. division – one of
its 170 rehabilitation centers in the U.S. – sends
about 6,500 pieces of mail each month nationwide.
The bulk of the mailing goes out residences and
businesses over a 700 to 800 mile radius. Teen
Challenge uses Melissa Data’s MAILERS+4 software to
verify, correct and standardize addresses, eliminate
duplicate records and postal presort for lower
rates. Having a clean database is vital to the
organization, as it saves them time and money.
Teen Challenge also uses NCOALink™ to identify
movers in its database. NCOALink processing searches
databases for individuals, families and businesses
that have moved and filed a change of address with
the U.S. Postal Service in the last 48 months.
Beverly Breithaupt, an administrative assistant at
the center, also says they use the Phone Append
service to “sharpen” their phone list of potential
donors. Before they used Phone Append, the center
had to call phone operators to verify phone numbers
– which took a lot of time.
