Maker Finds Way to Reduce Shipping Errors
XanGo LLC – the Lehi, Utah-based creator of the
mangosteen supplement beverage, XanGo™ Juice – is
privately-owned and powered by a global network of
independent distributors. The company’s found a way
to update its distributor address data. Here’s how.
XanGo’s operations span numerous international
markets such as Japan, Australia, New Zealand,
Mexico and Canada. The company has more than 500,000
distributors worldwide.
With such a massive database, the team at XanGo
wanted to find a way to effectively – and
continuously – clean and update its distributor
address data. Ruth Brown, a business analyst at
XanGo, believes it’s important for their business to
have clean and accurate data. In the past, the firm
updated its files manually. Some of the most common
problems were missed key strokes and transposed
letters that occurred during data entry.
The company tapped Melissa Data to test some of
Melissa’s data quality products and services. XanGo
tested Melissa Data’s Address Object tool and liked
its speed and its customizable interface. “It’s
suitable for what we plan to do with it,” Brown
says.
Address Object is powered by a CASS Certified™
address verification engine and meets the strictest
USPS specifications for address accuracy and ZIP +
4® codes, efficient processing and deliverability.
The tool verifies data in batch or at the point of
entry, resolving data inconsistencies.
Brown says the results of the analysis so far
predict that the use of Address Object will
substantially reduce shipping errors. XanGo sends
business mail and product packages to its
independent distributors. “The results have been
promising,” Brown says. “The product also has very
good documentation.”
In addition to batch processing, XanGo plans to
implement Address Object into its front end. The
company offers two different websites – one that’s
informational for the public to use, while the other
is membership-based, where its distributors go to
log in and place orders. XanGo plans to utilize
Address Object into this facet of their business in
order to verify address information provided by its
distributors.
XanGo’s distributors actively sell and promote its
proprietary beverage to customers and potential
customers. They also recruit new distributors to
promote and sell the product. XanGo isn’t sold in
retail stores. The company employs a direct sales
business model to distribute its product because its
founders believe strong word-of-mouth by users and
distributors of the product is the most effective
and powerful marketing strategy.
“The average store will not know the history and
scientific evidence behind XanGo,” says Alexandra
Bowman, Xango’s media relations specialist. “Our
distributors have this information and are extremely
effective in sharing the XanGo story in a very
powerful, compelling way.”
If you believe strongly in a product, chances are,
other people will too – is the mindset behind
XanGo’s business model.
