University Dental School Scrubs Address Database
Even higher education needs a little data scrubbing.
How does a university deal with data accuracy
issues?
The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry not
only cleanses its patients’ teeth – but also does
some database address scrubbing as well. When a
patient enters the clinic, they are asked to fill
out registration cards in order to update their
records. The clinic’s administrative clerks type in
the patient’s personal information – and this is
where Melissa Data comes in.
The dental clinic uses Melissa Data’s Address Object
to clean up their database of inaccurate, incomplete
and undeliverable patient addresses in real-time.
Address Object builds lookup and verification
capabilities in custom applications to validate and
standardize addresses to USPS specifications.
University of Iowa’s dental school processes about
500 transactions per day.
Using Address Object has helped the dental school
cut back on returned mail – which is the primary way
the clinic connects with its patients. The dental
school sends reminder cards, correspondence letters,
billing statements and promotional mailings to its
patients.
