Object Quick Tip: How to Edit an Unrecognized Suffix
File
Have you ever come across an unrecognizable suffix?
Did you know that it’s possible to edit the suffix
file (mdAddr.sfx) and add additional suffixes for
Address Object to look for? It is! We’ll show you
how in this month’s “Quick Tip”.
Let’s say that you came across an address with a
suffix of Terrace (proper abbreviation is Ter) that
is not coding because the input is TARR. You can
have Address Object recognize TARR as an
abbreviation for Terrace by adding the line shown
below to the mdAddr.sfx file.
[T]
; Terrace
TER=TERR
TER=TARR <- Added
Now, restart the application that uses Address
Object and it will recognize TARR as a valid
abbreviation for Terrace. Ta da!
