Music
School Increases Response Rate via Mailing Software
Arena Sound Music Instruction – a Falls Church,
Va.-based music school – uses mailing software to
clean up its customer database and promote its
business to local residents. Here’s how the school
is able to reduce the number of returned mail.
Arena Sound Music Instruction specializes in
providing piano, voice, guitar and drum lessons in
the greater Washington DC metro area. In the past,
the company relied on using its mailing list to
reach out to local residents and increase its
response rate. But the list often contained bad
addresses, which resulted in a return mail rate of 5
percent, says the school’s co-owner Kevin Glass.
So, the company turned to Melissa Data about a year
ago to find a solution to its problem. The music
school mails promotional postcards to the greater
Washington DC area – roughly 20,000 to 40,000 pieces
a month. The company started using Melissa Data’s
MAILERS+4 software to correct the addresses in its
mailing list and save money on postage and printing.
The software corrects addresses, adds in the right
ZIP + 4® codes and identifies duplicate records in a
single list or across multiple lists. The software
also presorts your mailings for both automation and
non-automation discounts.
So far, Glass is pleased with what MAILERS + 4 can
do for the school. He says they’ve received no
returned mail as a result of using the software. “We
like using the software,” he notes.
