Indian Post adds more freighters to carry mail
Inspired by the success of the freighter hired last
month to carry postal material from Kolkata to
north-eastern states, the India Post department is
preparing to hire three more freighters for the same
purpose.
The postal department wants to speed up delivery to
better compete against private courier service
providers who are giving the government-owned postal
department stiff competition, and they are trying to
end dependence on the railways, now that the first
experiment with freighters has been successful.
