Ever wondered what type of lists catalogers often use? Or what type of lists marketers are sending off emails too? A recent survey by Multichannel Merchant magazine sheds light on some of the most popular and trendy list practices of the past year. See if you’re hitting – or missing – the mark.

According to the magazine’s report, a percentage of respondents in the past year mailed catalogs to:

* Compiled lists 54%
* Catalog requesters 51%
* Outside catalog lists 35%
* Co-op databases 30%
* Subscription lists 30%
* Credit-card holder lists 14%
* Retail store lists 14%

The report also reveals what percentage of respondents sent marketing emails to:

* House file customers who opted in 82%
* Website visitors who opted in 42%
* House file customers who provided an email address, but didn’t opt in 36%
* Website visitors who provided an email address but did not opt in 27%
* Compiled lists 21%
* Co-op databases 6%
* Outside catalog lists 6%
