"Tap into better addressing for major savings"
|
A bad address is a costly failure that can repeat itself over and over
again, in wasted mail, shipping surcharges and customer disappointment
and dissatisfaction.
At Simon & Schuster, New York, NY, Tom Masciovecchio, director,
publishing systems, has slashed private carrier address correction and
redelivery surcharges from an estimated $250,000 per year to a tenth of
that. He has the special problem of shipping 8,000 to 10,000 review
copies of books to media and other outlets to addresses of dubious
quality.
To check the validity of the receiving points he now uses Data Quality
web Service from Melissa Data, which more than pays for itself. The
process detects a problem address, fixes the format, or can allow the
address to be kicked back for rechecking.
